Lookin' for a Little Help
Hey Folks, There are so many irons in my fire, I'd like to have some input from you. How would you like to learn? This is going to go out in a news update also, but I thought I'd write it here and get your responses on the blog.
When I'm teaching, I use questions to get people to think about what they're doing and what their horse is doing. If I always just say 'do this' and 'do that', sure they can do it, but as I also frequently say, 'I don't want to be your babysitter. I want to teach you how to do it when I'm not there by analyzing and adjusting to the situation your horse presents at the TIME!'
Here's the plan: I'm starting a Member's Site. This is not going to be a re-hash of training videos out there. I won't be explaining the basic skills and techniques, but I will be using them and pointing out how to use them in that moment. I'm going for a deeper understanding of...
the concepts along with a refinement of movement in both the horse and person.
Each month it's going to have a video of something going on. While I'm capable of just explaining what exactly is going on under the surface, I'd like to know what you guys are seeing and what you're missing. I want this to be an interactive group that helps each other. For some reason, I've noticed that horse forums get snarky, so I'll be monitoring that. (Yes, of course I get to be snarky, it's my site. Kidding... maybe some. You know I mean that in a nice way.) So, I'm thinking of posting a video that will be the topic of the NEXT month. That way you can post your observations and thoughts and then we can cover the bases better and see how people think in addition to what they think. Yes???
I'm also going to have interviews with other trainers and horse associated people in all breeds and disciplines. I hope to figure out how to have them be audio downloads. I'm toying with the idea spy technology or something that records phone conversations that I can then put in the computer. I'll probably have to figure out how to use Skype. And there may be some times where I just will have to transcribe the conversation or get it by email and then post it. Any ideas there? I'd really appreciate it.
Come on then, let me know your thoughts! Log in and Post now!
